CM appealed to people of Gujarat to be extra vigilant and take care to check the infectious Coronavirus(COVID-19) entering the state.

Chief Minister Vijay Rupani here today appealed to 6.50-crore people of Gujarat to be extra vigilant and take care to check the infectious Coronavirus (COVID-19) entering the state.

He praised the State Health Department, health workers, doctors, nurses, Asha workers being on their toes 24×7 for their commendable alertness and taking several preventive measures since the beginning, to ensure it is zero positive in Gujarat. This is despite the virus having spread to over 140 countries, including India.

Mr Rupani said that as per the WHO and Government of India guidelines all passengers coming from abroad are categorised in three categories, screened at Ahmedabad and Surat airports and sent to designated hospitals for quarantine and treatment in isolated wards.

The government has closed down schools, colleges, tuition classes, cinema halls, swimming pools etc. till March 29. The public places like ST and City Bus Services depots and buses are sanitised regularly. It has banned spitting in public places. He said that senior citizens above the age of 60 and particularly those having diabetes, hypertension, asthma etc. should take additional care and stay under home quarantine as far as possible.

Mr Rupani appealed to all sections of the society, belonging to all sects and community, voluntary organisations to help the government create publish awareness about Dos and Don’ts, like taking nutritious food, plenty of liquid, do exercise and take rest, build resistance power, greet one another with Namaste folded hands instead of handshake. He thanked the religious leaders and preachers to who have postponed prayer meetings and discourses as precautionary measure.

He exuded confidence the people of the state will overcome the emergency situation as they did in the past during cyclones, earthquake, swine flu and plague.
